Adult Therapy

Adult therapy can be helpful for anyone who wants to explore the way they’re thinking or feeling further, as well as for anyone experiencing a problem or issue, they are keen to resolve. My aim is to help you to facilitate change and find an alternative and meaningful alternative to your present way of thinking which is causing you distress or harm.

I am an Integrative Counsellor and Psychotherapist. This means I can offer you a range of therapies, tailored to suit the issues that are troubling you and to work within the boundaries you feel comfortable with.

CBT
This therapy addresses negative thought patterns and is particularly beneficial when treating phobias, anxiety, eating disorders, PTSD and OCD. CBT is an active and cooperative therapy, and I will work with you, asking you to participate in tasks to complete outside of the therapy session to support the work done within it.

CBT is normally short in duration (6-10 weeks) but can be extended depending on the severity of the symptoms.

Personal Centred

This is a talking therapy (humanistic approach) and it’s aimed to help you increase your sense of identity, to help develop your confidence and understand how you react and interact with others. I will work with you in a non-judgemental, non-authoritative approach where you lead discussions to help discover your own solutions empowering you to make change.

This type of therapy supports relationship issues, low confidence and self esteem, anxiety and trauma.

Transactional Analysis

This is a modern approach which helps to explore relationships and interactions with others. This therapy identified that we have 3 ego states; Parent, Adult and Child and I will help explore with you to help you understand which ego you operate within, how you communicate and interact with others and the positive and negatives of these interactions. Often, we have learnt behaviours and what is determined as a ‘Life Script’ which we act out and it is my aim to help you identify how these decisions and how you can adapt and make positive changes within yourself to have healthier relationships with yourself and others.

Transactional Analysis offers you the chance to make new informed choices. It is a talking therapy where you identify your need, and I will support you in understanding how to facilitate change.

Psychodynamic Therapy

Psychodynamic therapy is therapeutic approach that embraces the work of analytical therapies and works within Freud’s Psychoanalysis approach. My aim I these sessions would be to help support bringing the unconscious mind into the conscious awareness.

Psychodynamic therapy takes the view that our unconscious holds onto painful feelings and memories which are too difficult for the conscious mind to process. As a method of self-protection, an individual develops defences such as denial and projections which affect their behaviour and interaction with others, these can often do more harm than good.

Through a talking approach based on trust and congruence we will work to gain acceptance of these issues by addressing unresolves conflict hidden within your unconscious and that may be affecting your decision making and behaviour, therefore impacting your daily life and mood.

Psychodynamic therapy can help with childhood trauma, relationship and family issues, low self-esteem and confidence, anxiety and depression.
